New Scholarships donated to the University

Dr Steve Huckvale, an alumnus and honorary graduate, has donated sixteen postgraduate scholarships (two per year, for eight years) for African students to study at the University of Bath.

Two postgraduate scholarships will be available each year for students born in Africa and paying international fees, one in Engineering and one in Management, each worth £5,000. The selection criteria are academic excellence and leadership ability.

Dr Huckvale believes that there is much more the developed countries can, and should, do for this continent, and hopes that this scheme, in its own small way, will contribute to the knowledge economy and leadership positions within Africa.

Dr Huckvale’s personal commitment is bolstered by corporate support, from Moog Inc. – Steve is President, Moog International Group.

The Moog Scholarships (one per year, for four years) are to study on the School of Management’s full time MBA programme, and are each worth £6,875.

As part of the award the recipient will be offered the opportunity of undertaking their MBA industry project with Moog. Leadership is again a key selection factor.

The University is most grateful to Steve Huckvale for both his generous personal financial commitment to fund scholarships and for the major part he has played in gaining Moog’s support of the MBA scholarship.
