London Alumni Reception at Microsoft, London
26 November 2008

On 26 November over 130 alumni gathered at Microsoft’s London headquarters in Westminster for a special Alumni Reception, hosted by Neil Holloway (BSc Mathematics 1982, Hon DSc 2008), Vice President of Business Strategy for Microsoft International.

The evening was a great success.

After wine and canapés, guests were shown to the auditorium to hear the latest news from the University, and to hear our host give an engaging talk about his experiences both at University and the secrets behind his successful career.

Neil also shared with us his insight into leadership. His key points and advice to the audience were to believe in yourself, have clarity about your ambition and to plan the type of legacy you want to leave behind. Champagne winner Duncan Battman

He also spoke of the importance in business to keep the focus on the field you are in as well as the customers, and the importance of creating a representative workforce.

Neil then introduced his colleague, Steve Clayton, who gave a live demonstration of some of Microsoft’s latest technology.

The bottle of champagne was won by Duncan Battman (BSc Mathematics 1982) and after speeches, alumni had the chance to network and catch up with University of Bath friends over drinks.

We would like to thank Neil Holloway and Microsoft for hosting what was a very successful and enjoyable evening, and to thank all those alumni who attended.

Our next London event will be a reception at the House of Lords on Thursday 12 March 2009, details of which are on our Forthcoming events pagesWe hope to see you there.
