Congratulations to alumni recognised in New Year’s Honours List

Several Bath alumni have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours List for 2011:

Alison Comley (BSc Sociology & Social Work 1985), Acting Strategic Director, Neighbourhoods, Bristol City Council, received an MBE for services to Local Government. Alison’s main role is to lead in improving neighbourhoods across the city of Bristol. She also leads work with Safer Bristol and on Neighbourhood Partnerships across the city.

Debbie Hewitt (MBA Executive 1993) received an MBE for services to Business and to the Public Sector. Debbie was formerly non-executive director of the Office of Government Commerce, which reports to the UK Treasury and the Board of Communities and local Government, a Government body which oversees all Local Government activities including planning, housing and emergency services.

Stuart Long (BSc Mechanical Engineering 1988), Grade B2 MoD, received an OBE.

Squadron Leader Paul Rose (BEng Mechanical Engineering 1996) received an MBE for his contribution to the operational output of the Merlin Force during a period of immense change for the Force and transformations in operations. Paul has deployed to Iraq three times in his time at RAF Benson.

Roger White (MEd 1980), formerly Chief Executive of ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network), received an OBE for services to young people. For over 20 years Roger headed the Bristol-based organisation, which offers alternative qualifications for young people, and featured in The Times’ best 100 companies in 2010.

Kathleen Williams (BSc Sociology 1971), Regional Director of the Prince’s Trust in the West Midlands, has been awarded an LVO.
