With best wishes,
The Alumni Relations team

Alumni Fund reaches space

The University’s TOPCAT project, supported by the Alumni Fund, was selected by the UK Space Agency to be sent into space as part of the UK’s first CubeSat mission. The piece of equipment that impressed the UK Space Agency is able to measure the areas of space just beyond the earth’s atmosphere, called the plasmasphere. It will now be developed by PhD student Talini Pinto Jayawardena (MEng Electronics with Space Science & Technology 2010), under the supervision of Professor Cathryn Mitchell, Dr Robert Watson and Julian Rose. Learn more.

Is engineering a man’s world? We don’t think so!

Thanks to a grant from the Alumni Fund, six current female undergraduates, all students of Civil Engineering or Civil Architectural Engineering, were able to attend the Ove Arup event in London, which encourages female students to aim high in the sector. Find out more.

Alumni Events in Switzerland
3 March 2011

Alumni gathered for a dual event organised by Cary Adams (BSc Economics, Computing and Statistics 1985, MBA Modular 2002) and Debbie Brown (BSc Business Administration 2005) held simultaneously in Geneva and Zurich. Both events were a success and alumni living in Switzerland are invited to help plan the next gathering! Don't forget there is also a LinkedIn group for alumni who are living or working in Switzerland to network with each other. Please note you will need to have registered for a LinkedIn account to join the group.

If you'd like to organise an event in your area, please get in touch with the Alumni Relations team at alumni@bath.ac.uk who will be happy to help.

AlumNite
22 March 2011

Dozens of recent Bath graduates gathered for our latest AlumNite where they had an opportunity to network and seek advice from the Careers Service at our CV clinic. This was a great success and Kathryn from the Careers Service added more slots on the evening in order to see as many graduates as possible.

Missed out? As a Bath graduate you are still entitled to free advice – find out how the Careers Service can help you.
