Bath Graduates establish new £100,000 Scholarship Fund

15 February 2010

Two graduates of the University, Martyn and Fiona Ratcliffe, have made a donation to the University of Bath that will establish a new £100,000 scholarship fund. The Ratcliffe Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships based on financial need and academic merit to undergraduate students studying Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics.

Martyn Ratcliffe graduated with a BSc in Physics in 1983 and Fiona graduated in 1982 with a BSc in Humanities and Social Sciences.

The first Ratcliffe Scholarship, worth £10,000 over three years, will be awarded to a student starting in the 2010/11 academic year and it is anticipated that a minimum of ten scholarships will be supported through the fund.

Siôn Lutley, Director of Development & Alumni Relations, said "We are extremely grateful to Martyn and Fiona Ratcliffe for establishing this fund that will help many students overcome the financial barriers that might have otherwise prevented them from studying at Bath and achieving their future ambitions."

Further details for the Ratcliffe Scholarships and the other scholarships made possible through philanthropic donations can be found on the Scholarships & Bursaries web pages.
